Our Homeschool Umbrella exists to assist parents in providing a quality education that fosters a Biblical Worldview.

K-8th Grade Homeschool Program 

For Kindergarten through 8th Grade, First Baptist Academy offers a Homeschool Umbrella Program. Our Homeschool Program allows parents to select curriculum for their student(s) and customize their own educational choices for their family, while also receiving the support of a trusted Christian school in full compliance with Tennessee Homeschool standards and reporting.

 

Guidelines

 

  • Previous school records
  • Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Curriculum chosen by parent
  • Annual attendance reports
  • Annual grade reporting
  • Registration Form for K – 8th
  • At least one parent must be a professing Christian who is in regular attendance with a local church.
  • Agreement with First Baptist Academy / First Baptist Church Statement of Faith (available upon request).
  • The primary teaching parent, if employed, is responsible to oversee the student during the 4 required school hours each day (If another parent or adult is teaching part of this time, they must be listed on the registration application).
  • All grade and attendance reports must be turned in by June 1st.
  • If not paying in full, a Financial Agreement must be completed (available upon request).
  • Curriculum is chosen by parents. A list of curriculum's being used must be turned in annually.
     
  • Cumulative file maintenance
  • Assistance with curriculum selection
  • Enrichment activities with FBA Homeschool Community
  • Opportunities with First Baptist Academy
  • Yearly Standardized Testing (Grades 2nd – 7th) *Not required
  • K-8th tuition is $75 for your first student and $65 for your second student (tuition is free for students beyond the 2nd child within the K-8 Homeschool Program).
  • There is a one-time enrollment fee of $25 per student.
  • There is a yearly administrative service fee per family that will be charged with your tuition payment. It is $25 if you pay in full and $55 if you choose a payment plan.
  • For students enrolling after August 1st there is a late fee of $25 per student.
  • If you choose to test, our testing fee is $50 per student (grades 2nd-8th).
  • If you choose to test and you have a documented need for private testing for your student, there is an additional fee of $50 to provide your student with an individual proctor.
  • All fees and tuition are non-refundable.
  • Orientation - July
  • Standardized Testing Days (for 2-7th Grades) - April
  • Grades Due - June 1st

Other opportunities are available to FBA Homeschool Students including:

  • Extracurricular Activities (Field trips, meet-ups, FBA clubs, parties, etc.)
  • Enrichment Opportunities (Educational local homeschool offerings)
  • Lower/Middle School FBA Sports
  • Exclusive Additional Resources shared through email and social media

9th-12th Grade Independent Study Program

For 9th -12th Grade, First Baptist Academy offers the Independent Study Program through our Homeschool Umbrella Program. Our Independent Study Program (ISP) offers all the benefits of a Homeschool Education, the resources of First Baptist Academy, and the opportunity to earn a High School Diploma from an accredited Christian High School. ISP is in full compliance with Tennessee Homeschool standards and reporting, and fulfills the number of required credits to graduate with additional Bible credits. Guidance is provided through the High School program to make sure you are on track, as well as transcript maintenance and distribution for our students at no additional cost.

Families enrolling in the FBA High School Independent Study Program must meet the following criteria:

  • At least one parent must be a professing Christian who is in regular attendance with a local church.
  • Agreement with First Baptist Academy / First Baptist Church Statement of Faith (available upon request).
  • The primary teaching parent, if employed, is responsible to oversee the student during the 4 required school hours each day (If another parent or adult is teaching part of this time, they must be listed on the registration application).
  • All grade and attendance reports must be turned in by January 15th and June 15th.
  • If not paying in full, a Financial Agreement must be completed.
  • 11th-12th grade students are required to take the ACT once.  No minimum score is required to receive a diploma. (included in your tition fees)
  • Curriculum is chosen by parents. A list of curriculums being used must be turned in annually by August 1st.

  • Academic counseling
  • Enrichment activities with FBA Homeschool Community.
  • Select enrichment opportunities with First Baptist Academy
  • PSAT Testing (11th grade) *Not required
  • Pre-ACT Testing (9th-10th grade) *Not required
  • ACT Testing for 11th and 12th grade.
  • Academic advising for students in 8th grade to make a High School Plan.
  • First Baptist Academy High School Diploma and Official Academic Transcript
  • Documents for employment and learning permits
  • Graduation Ceremony

  • October - PSAT Testing (optional)
  • January 15th First semester grades and attendance due
  • May 31st - Automatic re-enrollment for next year unless notified via Withdrawal Form.
  • April - Standardized Testing (grades 2nd-7th) & PreACT Testing (8th grade optional).
  • MAy 15th  - Senior Grades and Attendance due
  • May - Homeschool Graduation
  • June 15th — Second Semester grades and attendance due
