The admissions process described below is for all applicants to the Lower School (Pre-K - 4), Middle School (5 - 8), and Upper School (9-12). We have created a thorough admissions process not to be exclusive, but to be inclusive to families who strongly desire an excellent Classical education that fosters a biblical worldview. As a ministry of First Baptist Powell, First Baptist Academy strives to equip students to impact the world for Christ. We teach every subject through a biblical worldview with a truth-based and Christ-centered approach while allowing students to grow spiritually through all aspects of academia.
Step 1: tour
Schedule a tour by calling 865.947.8503 or by emailing the Director of Admissions, Amber McGhee (firstname.lastname@example.org). The tour must be completed before your student is considered for admission.
Step 2: website
Explore our website for more information about First Baptist Academy prior to your tour. This is a great opportunity to jot down any questions that you think of to bring on your tour date!
Step 3: application
Submit your online application for admission including:
○ A $150 application fee (non-refundable)
○ Three Recommendations
○ Copies of transcripts and testing
STEP 4: admissions placement test
The admissions placement test is usually given during the school week. Middle and upper school students are required to complete an essay with the prompt of “Why I want to attend FBA”. Upper School students will be interviewed at the time of placement testing.
STEP 5: parent interview
Parents will be required to schedule an interview with the Divisional Principal along with the Director of Admissions. This is encouraged to be completed at the time of the admissions placement test. The purpose of this interview is for discussing the student’s and family’s goals with the school’s methods and philosophy, and is an integral part of the admissions process.
Step 6: Admission Decision
After FBA has received the completed application (including completed recommendations), testing and interviews are completed, the Admissions Committee will carefully review the application packet and determine admissions status. You will receive notification from the Admissions Committee within two weeks of the final parent interview and completed admissions packet.
Financial Aid Process
FBA partners with FACTS Financial Management, which processes and analyzes our financial aid applications. Financial aid is awarded on a first-come/first-serve basis. The deadline for returning families to apply is May 1. New families may apply for financial aid AFTER they have submitted an application for admission. New families must apply for aid within two weeks of their acceptance date. FBA complies with all TSSAA rules for financial aid. Any financial questions should be sent to email@example.com.
